Why is it, that the most important ‘job role’ of all, parenting, is given little attention or importance in our education, and modern societal systems ?
Possibly, this is due to the past, where parenting skills were naturally handed down by the entire village! Times have changed however. There is no longer the close knit village support of the extended family. Where children were supported, cared for, and guided by all the adults of the tribe. Today’s parents are generally isolated, overworked, and overstressed.
It is only in recent times that scientific research has come to understand what all ancient cultures knew, that the in-utero and early development of a child will govern its entire life. Even though the research is there, it has still not permeated into most modern approaches to preconception, pregnancy, and post-partum care.
Therefore, as adults, we are all a product of our early life experiences, which eventually manifest as mental and physical imbalances. The best thing we can do for our children is to become clear about what drives our behaviour.
